2.2 OVT CKD To FG BoM Rule¶

This page is based on notes/BOM-CKD-FG.md.
Core Rule¶
This note states that this is the only BoM used in OVT manufacturing:
1 x E3-Pro CKD Package -> 1 x E3-Pro Finished Motorcycle
What Not To Do¶
Do not:
- explode CKD into individual components in OVT
- recreate the China factory BoM in OVT
- require operators to pick individual parts from inventory
- attempt to track internal CKD components as stock items
Why This Rule Is Correct¶
Matches Physical Reality¶
At OVT:
- operators open one CKD package
- operators assemble one motorcycle from that package
Therefore the real production input is the CKD package.
Aligns With Odoo MRP Practice¶
The note states Odoo MRP should reflect what is physically consumed during production, not an upstream engineering structure from another factory.
Maintains Clean Traceability¶
This keeps:
- CKD lot to FG serial linkage clear
- one-to-one mapping intact
- stock movements simple and auditable
Preserves Responsibility Boundaries¶

OVT should not replicate the China factory manufacturing structure.
When To Use A Full Component BoM¶
The note says to consider a full component BoM only if OVT begins:
- breaking CKD kits into individual parts
- managing part-level inventory
- performing repairs using stock parts
- handling shortages or substitutions
Otherwise, do not use a full component BoM at OVT.
Risks Of Incorrect Approach¶
If CKD is exploded into components:
- inventory becomes inaccurate
- operators bypass system steps
- assembly slows down
- training becomes difficult
- system adoption fails
Optional Future Enhancement¶
If visibility into CKD composition is needed, maintain the China BoM as:
- reference documentation
- engineering data
But do not use it as the active OVT manufacturing BoM.
